We have both been inspected by Ofsted and are fully registered Childminders

CLAIRE'S INSPECTION

Claire was inspected by Ofsted in August 2018 and was proud to be awarded a Grade 2 Good (this aspect of the provision is strong) with several outstandings.

Here are a few of the comments from the report.

The childminder was registered in 2010 and lives in Ecton Brook, Northampton. She holds a Foundation Degree in Early Years and lives with her husband, who is also a registered childminder. The childminder operates all year round from 7.30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, except bank holidays and family holidays. The childminder provides funded early education for two-, three- and four-year-old children.

The quality of teaching is good. The childminder uses information, such as the children's age, ability and emerging interests to plan a good range of learning experiences. In addition, the childminder plans visits into the local community and uses a variety of amenities, such as the library, local woodlands and local attractions to support the children's learning even further.

The childminder supports children with special educational needs and/or disabilities well. She adapts the environment and regularly obtains additional resources, so that all children are included in activities which are tailored to meet their individual learning needs.

The childminder confidently uses sign language to support children's communication development. She uses photographs to help children to make choices about their activities and to show them what happens next. This gives them a sense of security which supports their emotional well-being.

Parental partnerships are strong. Parents are very happy with the care their children receive and speak highly of the childminder. Parents describe the difference the childminder has made to their children's learning and development, such as raising their child's self-confidence.

Children are safeguarded because the childminder is fully aware of her responsibilities to protect them from abuse and neglect. She works closely with her co-childminder to successfully minimise risks in her home and garden.

DAVE'S INSPECTION

Dave was also inspected by Ofsted in August 2018 and was proud to be awarded an overall Grade 2 Good rating.

Here are a few of the comments from the report.

The childminder was registered in 2011 and lives in Ecton Brook, Northampton. He holds a relevant childcare qualification at level 3 and lives with his wife, who is also a registered childminder. The childminder operates all year round from 7.30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, except bank holidays and family holidays. The childminder provides funded early education for two-, three- and four-year-old children.

Teaching is consistently good and children acquire the necessary skills and attitudes to prepare them for their move to school. For example, the childminder effectively supports children's communication and language skills. He engages children in conversation, models language clearly and introduces new words to extend their vocabulary.

The childminder effectively promotes the children's emotional well-being. He provides children with a warm and interesting environment that is safe and secure for them to explore. Children demonstrate good levels of confidence and self-esteem as they move freely around the childminder's home.

The childminder completes the progress check for children between the ages of two and three years and shares this with parents. This means that if needed, the childminder is able to access support for children to ensure that any gaps in their learning and development are suitably targeted.

Partnerships with parents and other professionals are well established. A consistent two-way flow of information means that children are effectively supported in their learning and development and make good progress based on their starting points.

The childminder demonstrates a very good knowledge and understanding of how to safeguard children in his care. Robust policies and procedures are in place to effectively support his practice. The childminder is aware of the actions to take if an allegation is made against himself or a member of his family.
