What do Childminders do?

Picture
As registered childminders we are classed as childcare professionals and work in own home caring for other people’s children. Rather than being employed by parents, we will set up a contract for the service we provide and set a fee for the service. We are totally dedicated to working in partnership with parents, allowing children to flourish and reach their full potential.

Using childcare in a home environment means your children can enjoy real-life learning experiences like cooking, gardening, creative arts and outings to the park and library. Childminders can be spontaneous, too - making the most of a sunny or unexpectedly snowy day as a great opportunity for outdoor play and learning.

As we care for children under 8 we are required by law to be registered and inspected. In England, childminders are registered and inspected by Ofsted. Childminders who care for children aged from birth to 7 must join the Ofsted Early Years Register and the compulsory part of the Ofsted Childcare Register.

We have both undertaken introductory training in childcare and further qualifications in children's care and education. Our home is regularly inspected to ensure that we offer a safe, welcoming and child-friendly environment. We also hold public liability insurance.

MEALS
We will provide a healthy lunch and cooked dinner to suit all dietary needs. We may eat out from time to time, building childrens' social skills. We will always try to serve seasonal food such as pancakes, hot cross buns and Diwali snacks. Water is freely available, and healthy snacks are provided. Parents are welcome to provide their own food for their child; this would be discussed at the initial meeting. We sit with children at the table and encourage good table manners and social and communication skills.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
As a registered childminder we have a number of Policies and Procedures in place. We have all relevant paperwork, such as accident logs, accident forms, contracts, permission forms, child details and child register. We also have all documentation as outlined by Ofsted, such as Registration Certificate and ICP Course Certificate.
We have Public Liability insurance supplied by the NCMA. All parents will have the opportunity to discuss any of the Policies and Procedures should you wish to use our services, you will also be given access to all our Policies and Procedures.
